Barbara is a member of the National Watercolor Society 1964-current; has served as a Board Member from 1973-1976, the Secretary 1974, and the Historian 1974-1976. She also belongs to the Los Angeles Art Association. She joined in 1950s, before joining California Watercolor Society.

Barbara Day studied with: William Wolfson, Antoyan, Robert Frame, Joe Mugnaini, Noel Quinn, and Bentley Schaad.

Barbara graduated from Oregon State University. She graduated and worked at the University of Washington, and Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

  • 1965

    Barbara loves art and has always had a great sense of artistic ability. As a child she enjoyed the traditonal artistic things, such as crayons, pencils, and paints. It was as she started her college career that she decided that Art was more than just a fleeting passion. She really enjoyed it. She studied at the Oregon State University. She contiuned her graduate work at the University of Washington, and Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

  • 1967

    Barbara started exhibiting in the Watercolor Society Shows. She traveled around California and showed her artwork. Many times her husband would travel with her. They enjoyed the arts and the fun in traveling. Her husband, James K. Day, Song Writer, ASCAP, with hits like "BILLY GOAT HILL" sung by the Kingston Trio and Glen Yarboro; accepted a scholarship offered him by Aldolph Rupp, the famious winning basketball coach at the University of Kentucky.

    Barbara has had her paintings shown in the following museum shows: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA; Palm Springs Desert Museum, Palm Springs, CA; Richmond Art Museum, Richmond, CA; Pacificulture-Asia Museum, Pasadena, CA; Palos Verdes Art Museum, Palos Verdes, CA; and Laguna Beach Museum of Art, Laguna Beach, CA.

  • 1972

    Barbara's jury shows include, but are not limited to: Marlow Gallery, Burlingame, CA; Karth Gallery, Carefree, AZ; Magda Art Gallery, Brentwood, CA; Walter Hook Gallery, Missoula, MT; 23rd International Grand Prix, Deauville, France; U.S. Embassy, Stockholm, Sweden; National Orange Show, San Bernardino, CA; Southern California Exhibition, Del Mar, CA; Watercolor West, Utah State University; Marin Society of Artists, San Rafael, CA; and Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
